The very word is thrown around as a goal to achieve, an attribute to display, an inspiration on a plaque or pillow. Yet many of us find joy difficult to understand and, at times, harder to find. Fight Back With Joy is a transparent and vulnerable story of a woman's battle to maintain joy throughout a difficult diagnosis.

With all the talk of STORY, it’s no coincidence that my personal reading has gravitated to biographies, memoirs, and the like. Today I’m excited to revisit First Friday Book Faves with some of the inspiring books I have been reading..
Brooke Lynn is a writer and speaker who lives passionately — reaching others with God’s Word and love. Circles of Faith (COF) had the opportunity get to know the author a little better. She’s an ordinary woman doing extraordinary things for God. We hope her story encourages and inspires you to take that next step toward what God is calling you to do.
Because Jesus may call me to lay down something or pick up something new or invite someone in or go against what I’ve always known or take steps into the unknown. God doesn’t leave us the same. He makes us new and continues making us new. He doesn’t leave us in the wilderness but changes us as we journey to the Promised Land.
It had been a few years since God healed my heart of the shame and regret of past mistakes, and now He was calling me to a new purpose. I believed God could never use me for anything special, because I felt I had nothing special to offer in light of my past.
Circles of Faith Regular Contributor Kristin Hill Taylor’s book, Peace in the Process: How Adoption Built My Family & Faith, gives an inside, up close, and very personal view of her life journey through her adoption process and the many God lessons she learned along the way.
Loop: What Women Need to Know by Jennifer J. Camp is a “collection of whispers” from God to His daughters. It is a series of quiet and simple devotions that encourage the art of listening.

From the very first page of Nancy B. Kennedy’s book, Miracles & Moments of Grace – Inspirational Stories of Survival, I was drawn in. I found myself transfixed as I read about an 18-wheeler careening off the road, barreling into the unknown during a blinding dust storm. I held my breath through the tale of a masked gunman who crashed a home jewelry party.

Out of the darkness and loneliness of her new home on the mission field in Nepal, Jenn Hand hears God whisper to her heart, “Come alive, Jenn. I am a God that is Alive. In fact, I am the only God that is truly alive. I overcame death to come alive and bring life.” That night Jenn began her journey of Coming Alive by walking day-by-day, moment-by-moment with God. A little over a year ago, my grandpa had a ninetieth birthday party. I had the privilege of being there and serving punch. That put me in a position to do a lot of listening. Over fifty people packed into his house, and each one came with a story. On and on the stories went of how my grandpa has spent his life loving well, in little and big ways. I nodded my head in agreement because I’ve experienced the same. [Continue Reading...]

This is my first time reading anything by author, Emily P. Freeman. I have so enjoyed A Million Little Ways. Within the covers of this book, I found words that made me realize each one of us is truly born with a longing and a need to be creative. Each of us has an art, hidden inside of us, waiting to be developed and shared with those around us. [Continue Reading…]
